Our Eco Commitment
At Shose Farmhouse Chalets & Campsite, we believe that sustainable travel is not just a trend — it’s a responsibility. Nestled in the heart of nature at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro, we are dedicated to preserving the very environment that makes our location so special.
Sustainable Practices in Action
- Reducing Single-Use Plastics
We have taken active steps to eliminate single-use plastics from our operations. Instead of plastic water bottles, we serve fresh, purified drinking water in reusable glass bottles — available in all guest rooms and the restaurant.
- Solar-Powered Energy
Our entire property is powered by 100% solar energy. From lighting to water heating, every facility at Shose runs on clean, renewable energy — reducing our dependence on fossil fuels and lowering our carbon emissions.
- Water Conservation
Water is a precious resource, and we strive to use it responsibly. We kindly encourage our guests to opt out of daily linen and towel changes, helping us conserve water and reduce the impact of laundry on the environment. Linen changes are always available upon request.
- Biodiversity Restoration
As part of our commitment to environmental stewardship, we are actively working to restore native biodiversity. This includes planting endemic tree and plant species that support local wildlife, reduce erosion, and contribute to the health of our ecosystem.
- Supporting Local & Sustainable Agriculture
Much of the food served at our restaurant is grown right here on our organic farm, and what we don’t produce ourselves, we source from local farmers and producers. This reduces our carbon footprint, supports the community, and ensures fresh, high-quality meals for our guests.
- Educating and Inspiring Conscious Travelers
We invite our guests to learn more about sustainable living and ecotourism through guided farm tours, nature walks, and by simply experiencing how eco-conscious hospitality can enhance their travel experience.
