The story of Shose Farmhouse, Chalets & Campsite is rooted in family, legacy, and a deep connection to the land. It began when Aquiline Kitutu Makoi married Shose Marehe Masuki settled at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro in Moshi, Tanzania. Together, they raised five children on a piece of land that would later become a sanctuary for travellers.
When Aquiline passed away in 1958, Shose remained with her children, caring for the land and their future. In recognition of her enduring strength and nurturing spirit, the property was named Shose Farmhouse, Chalets & Campsite a tribute to the woman who held the family and land together.
Years later, their youngest son, Charles Aquiline Makoi, inherited the land and brought a vision to life. He transformed the family homestead into an eco-friendly lodge where guests can experience organic farming, panoramic views of Mount Kilimanjaro, and warm Tanzanian hospitality.
Today, the family's legacy continues through both Shose Farmhouse Chalets and Campsite extending their commitment to sustainability, comfort, and connection to even more travellers across northern Tanzania.
